Join us for a unique, rich day designed to introduce the benefits and practice of both to enable you to harness the power of your brain and optimse your health.

  • Learn why Mindfulness has a positive impact on mental and physical health
  • Practice different approaches to reach mindful state
  • Learn about Human Givens and how it charts a map to understand what we need to be emotionally healthy.
  • Learn how to harness the power of your brain to achieve mindfulness, lower emotional arousal & function more healthily.
  • Build mental resilience, encourage healing, prevent ill-health

This Mindfulness and Human Givens course differs from other approaches to teaching Mindful meditation in that it introduces a variety of avenues into practice – from Eastern traditional approaches, Qi Gong, for example, to Western approaches, as exemplified in Jon Kabat Zinn’s MBSR, across a number of practices of different duration and type. This is all set within a Human Givens Psychological framework.

So, why practice Mindful Meditation?

  • To be healthier – in mind and body
  • To create spaciousness of mind to enable choice in response to the environment
  • To increase clear thinking
  • To reduce emotional reactivity in response to stress or perceived threat
  • To increase self-management, mind management and self-control
  • To manage chronic pain
  • To develop higher faculties of understanding and being

And why learn about Human Givens?

  • The Human Givens (HG) approach offers a pragmatic but profound understanding of emotional health.
  • The HG Approach is based on the most effective techniques devised across all schools of psychotherapy over time, and underpinned by the great neuroscientific findings of recent times. It’s based on how the brain actually works, rather than an ideological premise as to how it might.
  • HG has introduced breakthrough theories about the function of dreams and the cycle of depression and refined the safest and most effective ways of treating depression, trauma, anxiety and addictions
  • The essential HG Approach and understanding of health is applicable across a very broad spectrum of experience: wherever there are people seeking to work and live well together.
  • Human Givens therapy is quick (working in half the time of alternate approaches), effective and safe.
  • Devised in the late 1990s by Joe Griffin, an Irish Psychologist, and Ivan Tyrrell, an English Psychotherapist, it offers a profound understanding of emotional health, and how we achieve and keep it, based on a seamless reciprocal marriage between theory and practice.

Course Description

The course will anchor the experience of mindfulness in the neuroscientific evidence that demonstrates its effectiveness, explaining how and why it works. Key elements of Human Givens will be explained so that a growing capacity to be mindful can be informed and supported by a growing understanding of what we need to be healthy in the world, and how we can achieve that. Thus theory, information and practice will be at the core of the course offering a holistic approach to Mindfulness and optimum emotional health and the immediate insight, understanding and opportunity to begin to achieve it.
