MINDFUL WELLBEING COURSE

MINDFUL WELLBEING COURSE is a six week course to learn the benefits of
mindfulness and the Human Givens approach to wellbeing. Mindfulness also known as
mindful awareness has numerous benefits including emotional and physical
wellbeing. Join me for an exciting six week interactive workshop style course to
explore using mindfulness techniques along with Human Givens psychology. During
the six weeks you will explore different mindfulness techniques which you can
incorporate into your every day. Each week will focus on a different topic and you
will be given recommended tasks to incorporate into your everyday to optimise your
experience during the six weeks.
What the six weeks will cover:

  • Explore the workings of the brain through the Human Givens approach to well being
  • Learn how to use mindfulness to develop and enhance creativity
  • Learn how to integrate mindfulness into your everyday life with practical tips
  • Learn how to use mindfulness when challenging emotions arise
  • Learn how to use mindfulness and compassion to help gain inner peace
  • Learn how mindfulness can change your brain and therefore can change your life using Human Givens awareness
  • How to overcome obstacles on the path of mindful living
  • Learn how to respond rather than react to life’s challenges living with more wisdom and freedom
  • Learn the power of ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’.

What is Mindfulness?

awareness, clarity and acceptance of present moment reality. It wakes us up to the
fact that our lives unfold only in moments. If we are not fully present for many of
these moments, we may not only miss what is most valuable in our lives but also fail
to realise the richness and the depth of our possibilities for growth and

What is Human Givens Psychology?
Human Givens is solution focused short term effective psychotherapy which was
devised by Joe Griffin, an Irish Psychologist and Ivan Tyrell, an English
Psychotherapist in the late 1990s. It offers a profound understanding of emotional
health and how we can achieve it through recognising our needs as humans and how
we can get them met adequately in the environment we live in.
Course Description
The six week Mindful Wellbeing course focuses each week on a different topic to
explore living in greater awareness of the present moment. It will introduce you to
the practice of mindfulness and Human Givens psychology. It is designed for
beginners however it is also suitable for those who want to remind themselves of the
benefits of mindfulness. The course is lightly based on the MBSR course devised by
Jon Kabat-Zinn and the MBCT course devised by Mark Williams, John Teasdale and
Zindel Segal incorporating the Human Givens approach to wellbeing and emotional
health. We will practice different mindfulness techniques and explore how we can
incorporate these into your everyday life. Through the practice of mindfulness you
can begin to explore the power of living in present moment awareness. Learn how to
lower emotional arousal to help cope better with stress and build resilience to live a
more authentic fulfilling life.

Workshop outline
Each morning will run from 10am to 12pm with a 15 minute tea/coffee break which
will be provided.
Date:  commencing Sunday 4th February 2018

Week One – Automatic Pilot – exploring our daily lives as they are and how we can
learn to live more in awareness. Making time for ourselves each day.
Week Two – Limiting Beliefs – the stories we tell ourselves and how these can affect
our lives and progress. How to turn them around to improve our well being.
Week Three – Self Compassion and Loving Kindness, how to cultivate self
compassion and ultimately live a more compassionate life
Week Four – Mind Body – investigating healthy eating to improve well being. Link
between healthy gut and healthy brain.
Week Five – Exploring difficulty, how to face challenges in your life rather than
avoid. How to respond rather than react.
Week Six – Putting it all together. Setting goals and intentions. Vision Boards.

 

Facilitator
Anne-Marie Curran
Anne-Marie Curran is a fully qualified Human Givens Psychotherapist and is a
registered member of the Human Givens Institute. She is practicing Human Givens
Psychotherapy at the Dublin Human Givens Centre.

She has a Professional Certificate in the Therapeutic Use of Mindfulness from the
Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. She has also completed the
MBSR (Mind Body Stress Reduction) approach as devised by Jon Kabat Zinn –
which she was taught at The Oscailt Centre in Dublin.
Cost per person: €180 to include handouts each week
