What is Mindfulness?

There are a number of definitions of mindfulness but the one that is more commonly used is by Jon Kabat-Zinn also known as the godfather of mindfulness.

‘Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgementally. This kind of awareness nurtures greater awareness, clarity and acceptance of present moment reality. It wakes us up to the fact that our lives unfold only in moments. If we are not fully present for many of these moments, we may not only miss what is most valuable in our lives but also fail to realise the richness and the depth of our possibilities for growth and transformation.’

What is Human Givens Psychology?

Human Givens is solution focused short term effective psychotherapy which was devised by Joe Griffin, an Irish Psychologist and Ivan Tyrell, an English Psychotherapist in the late 1990s. It offers a profound understanding of emotional health and how we can achieve it through recognising our needs as humans and how we can get them met adequately in the environment we live in.
